The Pace group approach to piano and musicianship emphasizes: * musical patrern and contour reading * multiple key approach "© use of the entire keyboard immediately @ peer teaching and group dynamics Kinder-Keyboard, 6 and 7 years, This is a preparatory program in which the children receive two 45-minutes . group lessons per week in groups of four to six and will. naturally progress to Pace Level 1 the following September. Levels 1 to 6, 8 to 1 7 Oars. Children receive two 45 53 minute periods of instruction per week. One lesson is . in a group of six to eight children in which they learit': basic harmony, ear training, technique, sight-reading, , | transposing and creative work at the piano. Beginners start _in a small master class and then move on to an individual lesson in addition to the group lesson. String teaching techniques are borrowed from the Suzuki Method. Some Kodaly-Orff activities are also incorporated i into the § group classes. While actual reading is not taught. in the beginning stages, we do provide pre-reading activities in the group classes. With young children we rely on Suzuki's: “Mother tongue” concept of. learning.
