Municipal grants THREE NORTH Shore municipalities will share part of the $13 million in property tax graats from the B.C. Bailding Corp. (BCBC), Government Services Minister Lois Boone announced recently. ‘The grants-in-lieu of taxes, totailing $13,182,987, will go to 89 municipalities where the corporation owns property. Taxes paid annually for the properties are distributed back to the municpalities as grants. On the North Shore: @ North Vancouver City wiil receive $50,123; @ North Vancouver District will get $4,677; @ and West Vancouver will get $1,744. The grants are not unexpected windfalls for municipalities, because they are factored into each an- nual municipal budget. “BCBC provides 2nd maintrins the accommodation requirements of the provincia’ government,’ said Boone. “It manages 2,137,600 sq. metres (23,003,229 sq. feet) of property, making it the province’s largest real estate business.’ Theft charges A VANCOUVER man faces numerous charges following an investigation of several thefts ct stores located in ‘West Vancouver’s Park Royal Shopping Centre. Richard Maurice Legault, 40, has been charged with two counts of theft under $1,000, and two counts of possession of stolen property. He has also been charged with driving without a driver's licence and driving without insurance. According to a West Vancouver Police spokesman, a suspect was observed shoplifting neck ties at the Park Royal Eaton’s store. The man was followed by a security guard and was observed taking more ties at the Wocd- ward’s store.
