Plants from VanDusen, friends’ gardens, and others from commercial growers, provide the wide varieties of perennials, geraniums, rhododen- drons, trees, vines, shrubs, cacti, roses, fuchsias and orchids plant sale buyers expect. Gardeners can walk on the ‘‘wild side’’ in their own backyards. The Native Plant cate- gory has expanded its list of plants to highlight for the coastal gardener an abundance of in- digenous and endangered species now available. Buyers can help preserve a species by purchasing the endangered Erythronium which grows in open shade and thrives in woodsy soil Trillium ovatum a delicate plant will recapture memories of hikes through our rainforests, For rocky soils, and sunny, wind-swept loca- tions, the Arbutus menziesii is perfect. This tricky but rewarding plant is ideal for ocean view pro- perties and is successful in the city as weil. Great finds are always found in Pot Luck. Here plants have been lovingly donated by VanDusen, gardens of our volunteers, friends and neighbors. Often planis found here are no longer available at any commercial grower. Masses of classic old time favorites such as Phlox and iris, are bursting into spring. Stately Solomon's seal, and Japanese anemones will be among the popular finds.
