Foundation offers
$23,000 in awards

NORTH VANCOUVER Grade 12
graduates will have au opportunity
to cash in on more than $23,000
in funding this year trom. the
North Vaneouser High School
Education Foundation.
Foundation president Phil Miles
said the organization will offer 16
bursaries. including one for a stu-
dent who is bilingual in French
and English. seven) technology
scholarships for students planning
to continue their education ata
technical school and 140 scholar-
ships for the academically gifted,
including one for a graduate of
the French immersion program,
For 1991 the value of the basic
scholarship/‘bursary is $550,
Students wishing to apply for
the awards should make applica-
tions to the foundation through
their school counsellors.

The Broadway Mental Health
Team serves a population of
120,000 in East Vancouver. It has
a caseload of 780 patients and 45
per cent of them are diagnosed to
have schizophrenia,

The demand for a broad range
of mental health services resulted
in the development of an effective
process Using small teams or CRU
— Community Response Unity.

Each CRU includes a
psvehiatric nurse and a social
worker.

The public is invited to hear
