Pember- ton, N.V. ene Overwhelmed parents get help NORTH SHORE parents feeling overwhelmed by the demands of family and daily life have a new support resource available in the community. The B.C. Parents In Crisis Society, a United Way member agency, has established a self-help group at North Shore Neighbourhood House. JENNIFER Matthews ...heads B.C. Pareuts In Crisis Society at North Shore Neighbourhood Hoosz. The group meets Mondays, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is headed by volunteer sponsors Jennifer Mat- thews and Brenda Bourque. The first group met in North Van- couver at the beginning of Febru- ary. Said Bourque, ‘We'll accept any parent that feels stressed. Basically they need someone to talk fo and we provide someone to listen. That's the main thing we do — be there for them and nor be judgmental.”’ The Parents In Crisis group goal is to prevent child abuse. Children often take the brunt of parental stress. But group members are en- couraged to discuss any issues im- portant to their lives. All enquiries are treated as con- fidential. There is no fee charged to participate. Transportation and child-minding arrangements are provided upon request. For more information call the B.C. Parents In Crisis Society at 299-0521. ° March 11--Rummage sale.
