A colourful variety of panda bears, a giraffe, an elephant, a colony of penquins, monkeys and a pink panther abound in the special settings on the North and South Malls. This year, a special guest has joined Santa Claus on the North Mail. She is Koko the Gorilla, a black replica of the lowland gorilla made famous in National Geographic Society magazine articles. Sporting a red poinset- tia over her left ear (signifying she's an unattached female} Koko in real life is about 15 years old and can converse in American sign language using some 500 signs. Koko is on loan to Park Royal by Dakin Ca Ltd., supplier of many of the toy animals featured in the Christmas settings.
