Pity simple Jack

Dear Editor:

There seems no end to the piffle
which pours from the pen of Jack
Davis, M.L.A., and puddles on the
Pages of your paper.

The latest item of nonsense from
him deals with his concern that
teachers, and other ‘‘public ser-
vants,’’ who might seek elected of-
fice somehow put ‘‘Democracy
itself...at risk.’’ (The North Shore
News, January 24.)

The silly man seems to be
seriously suggesting that
democracy would be better served
if some people were disenfranchis-
ed! (Jack must have spent a lot of

As usual, Jack's timing is im-
peccable. He produced this pro-
nouncement on ‘‘special interest
groups”? at precisely the moment
when several of his party col-
leagues find themselves involved in
a major controversy over ‘‘con-
flicts of interest!"*

lt almost seems a pity to point
out to ‘Simple Jack” that running
for office is not the same thing as
winning office, and that that deci-
sion is still made by the voters and
not the candidates.

Unless, of course, Jack would
take from ‘‘teachers and their ilk"’
the right to vote, too?
