One of the things can- didates will face is the results of a recent North Vancouver survey, conducted by the riding association, that shows a strong media image - will be as important to a new leader as his or her stand on party policy. As well as laying out what is expected of the candidates, the survey shows that 65 per cent of the members favor government spending restraint and that nine out 10 want more money spent on job creation. Almost three-quarters of those surveyed said they were generally satisfied with the provincial NDP’s per- formance — compared with only” 52.47 who said they were generally satisified with the federal party — but only slightly more than 32 per cent felt the party’s performance in the B.C. legislature has been good. The survey is based on interviews with about half the 200 members of the Association.
