RESIDENTIAL (Single Family) 0, 1983 - North Shore News Sunday Feature Home Feature Home Story and photos by ELLSWORTH DICKSON TODAY’S FEATURE Home is a clever blend of traditional and contemporary styles of architecture. Located in the Ambleside area of West Van- couver, this home, which is on the market, is two and a half years old and owned by well-known artist John MacNeill and his wife Eleanor. There was an old cottage on the lot which was torn down to make way for the new structure. The backyard ts quite im- pressive with extensive gardens, plants and shrubs as well as a litthe stream which actually flows under the house through a canal. And , it does not overflow when it rains. Much thought and careful planning has gone into the house. The inside hallways ‘‘flow’’ together and every room is bright and open. Onc of the high points of the house is the ‘‘greenhouse sundeck at the rear of the house which 1s great for year- round entertaining. There are two bedrooms and 2'> baths. Other features include a formal dining room, an open den at the top of the stairs, three decks and a fabulous two storey high travertine marble fireplace which sits on an angle to be viewed trom both the living and dining rooms , wy In the three quarter base ment there as oa workshop area and oan oat studio presently being used by daughter) Denise, also an artist Opening New Doors on
