first examine other possible
avenues of municipal sup-
port for the local cultural
organization.

Mayor Marilyn Baker, ina

budget talks, dissension
arose among local politicians
whether to cut off grants or
decrease them substantially.

“Of particular concern to
some (council members) has
been the fact (this grant)
represents such a significant
portion of our total grant
dollars,” explained Baker.

outcome of the commission's
investigation, “the final deci-
sion will be up to council,”
remarked Alderman Ernie
Crist.
