The Vancouver Puppetry (VGOP) is: bringing the ancient art of puppetry to Presentation Huuse. VGOP's Fall) Festival of Shows starts Oct. 26 with per: formances running three con- secutive Sarurdays Luman Coad of North Vancouver-based Coad Canada Puppets says festival goers can expect to see some quality per- formances. “Fifteen years ago Canadian puppetry was considered among the best in the world,” says Coad. Today, the Canadian puppeteers’ work remains extremely high. What's changed, however, is a shift in general interest towards the European style of puppetecring, which sees actors on stage with puppets. “Canadian puppeteers prefer more the pure form,” notes Coad. Saturday, Nov. 9: Dirk's Marionettes stages Rusmpelstiltskin at 1 and 3 p.m. Dirk Gertel has produced and directed this production based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.
