Choosing a body shop (part two)

LAST WEEK, we checked some
of the major attributes of a good
repair facility. It shouid be clean,
well organized and have the tools
to do a proper job on your vehi-
cle.

You should also look for the
**signs’? of skilled craftsmen.
Journeymen apprentice program
certificates and training diplomas
signify the completion of up to
four years’ training in body work
and/or painting. Major training
institutions include Vancouver Ci-
ty College, Camosun College on
the Island, and Okanagan College
in Kelowna.

ICAR — the Inter-Industry
Conference on Automobile Colii-
sion Repair issues certificates to
those who have completed training
in unibody and plastics repairs. So
do tool and equipment manufac-
turers or suppliers, who offer
training programs on specialized
products to repair modern, high-
tech vehicle components.
