Kenny first worked for the district in 1955, when she started as the secretary to the assessor be- fore the days of the B.C. Assess- ment Authority. In the next seven years Kenny typed her way through the municipal hierarchy, working for the municipal clerk and solicitor as well as the reeve and comp- troller (mayor and manazer). Kenny took time out fo raise a family (She now has two sony in their 20s) before returning ito district, hall as assistant to the municipal clerk six years ago. She was promoted to deputy municipal clerk atier cramming 15 credit, courses into three years of night school to obtain her business certificate in public administra- tion, Kenny rarely talks in’ the first person, preferring to emphasize the teamwork nature of the job. The municipal clerk is the department head and as such takes final responsibility, but as the deputy clerk Kenny has to be able to fill those shoes if called upon to do so. Kenny acknowledges that now that her work load is more onerous it: will probably take her 2% years to complete the nest eight courses from the University of Victoria.
