IT WAS another great weekend
for the North Shore Nationals as
they shut out Tayside United 2-0
on Oct. 5 in Senior Men's Metro
League first division play.

The Nationals took the lead
halfway through the first half
when a shot from Freddie ‘‘Black
Bart’’ Allen went off the crossbar
and Adam Ross buried the re-
bound behind the Tayside keeper.

The first half ended 1-0 with the
Nationals having the edge in play.

The Nationals continued to con-
trol play in the carly part of the
second half, but the momentum
shifted to Tayside.

They. hounded the Nationals’
goal for 20 minutes, but with some
strong goalkeeping from Paul
Stone and Dave ‘Stretch’ McLean,

Tayside couldn't find the back of
the net.

The Nationals finally regained
control of the game when Mark
Harris fed a through ball to Peter
Coley, who made no mistake in
notching the second goal of the
game.

Tayside had chances late in the
game, but the Nationals recorded
their second shut-out in as many
games.

The whole team played well with
special mention going to Gordi
Kothlow, Bill Barabana, Donny
Mitchell and Reb Rogers.

The Nationals would like to

is on Oct. 12, at 2 pm at Cleveland
field against Germania.
