FIFTY YEARS of cold hard
cash is on display this
weekend at the 11th annual
North Shore Coin Show.
Instead of the usual
display competition, the
North Shore Numismatic
Society is showing a special
invitational display of all
Canadian bills _ produced
since 1935 on September 28
and 29 at the North Van-
couver Recreation Centre.
This doesn’t just mean a
collection of the Bank of
Canada notes carried. around
in. wallets but an unfolding
of Canadian history in cur-
Fency.
Until” 1950 charter banks
issued, their own bills, used
' in stores just like gov-
‘ernment issue now.
Barclay’s Bank of
‘ ‘Canada, the Dominion
‘Bank, La Banque de
‘Boucherville as well as well
‘as today’s banks all produc-
‘ed their:own currency.

The display, taking up 100
display cases, is complete,
