Things are moving faster
for Geri Jewell than for most
young comics. Spotted . by
sitcom producer Norman
Lear (noted for taking
chances with “risky” sub-
jects), she made her TV
debut last season in the Lear
hit Facts of Life. The
producer's gamble paid off.

The Facts episode, Cousin
Gen, which dealt openly
with CP, drew enormous
audience response because
of the engaging charm and
wit of its guest star, Gen
Jewell. It also won her the
Media Award for Individual
Achievement and, most
recently, a co-starring role
with George Burns and
Robbie Benson in the up
coming movie Two of a
Kind.

Geri now appears
regularly on Facts of Life. as
well as continuing to work as
a stand-up comic. But before
beginning work on her new
movie, Geri is coming to
Vancouver for a very short
engagement at the request of
the Vancouver Neurological
Centre, which operates the
Children’s Rehabilitation
and Cerebral Palsy
