Positive beginnings §

Parents for Positive Begin-
nings is a group which was
established in the spring of
1981 because of consumer
interest and dissatisfaction
with current birthing policies
on the North Shore. Since
that time, there has been
considerable progress in atj-
tude and policy changes,
both at the consumer and
medical level.

Two important

involved with are the
mother/conscious,
father/present Cesarean
births, and the planned

commodate the growing
number of parents who wish
to experience family-
oriented births.

Art inspired by mountains

Susan Janeway is
exhibiting her work at the
West Vancouver Library for
the month of February.

Her vibrant style is
reflected in her paintings of
mountains.

Susan Janeway was born
in England and later moved
to Mexico where she was
charmed by the glowing
warmth of the tropical colors

After the war Susan
married and went to live in
Maracaibo, Venezuela.
Once again she was in-
fluenced by the character
and color of ber surroun-

dings. It was here that she
first started painting.

After Susan and her
husband moved to Van-
couver she once again went
back to art and graduated
from the Vancouver School
of Artin 1967.

Canadian Rockies will
always be Susan Janeway’s
favorite subject, but she is
also interested in painting
the rolling landscapes in the
interior of B.C.

She has taught art both
privately and for the North

Boards, Adult Education
Department.

Some of her paintings
have been hung in West Van
and the Vancouver Art
Gallery.
