The Chamber raised approximately $3,000 at its annual general meeting and president’s banquet, held at the eud of January. Fifty per cent of the money was designated towards the chamber’s college student bursary, designed to assist local students to achieve their college educations. The cheque was handed aver on March 24 by Rosemarie Block, president of RCL Branch 60, for the pur- chase of a special chair scale needed for people unable to be weighed on a_ conventional stand-up scale. The scale will also benefit others in the com- munity as the West Vancouver Adult Day Centre is located within the West Community Health Centre and across the street from the West Vancouver Seniors Centre. Irene Lytde, manager of Seniors Specialty Services for the North Shore Health Region, was on hand to receive the cheque on behalf of the centre. The Legion has been a regular supporter of various seniors’ programs on the North Shore, in particular the Home Emergency Response System. Ms. Block said dona- tions such as these are raised entirely through the volunteer efforts of Legion members dur- ing their annual Poppy Campaign.
