20 — Wednesday, October 13, 1999 — North Shore News Travel hosis THE third in a series of “Travel Talks” is planned as a workshop to inform interested trav- ellers about the process of planning travel for small or large groups of family or friends. The evening is being hosted by North Shore’s Travel Concepts on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. in their Ambleside Office, 1716 Marine Drive, West Vancouver. As the millennium approaches, the two Travel Concepts offices on the North Shore have seen an increase in the number of requests for travel arrangements in celebration of a special event or anniversary. Cindy Horton, CTC, managing partner of the Edgemont Village office and a specialist in group travel, says “In today’s busy world, people are feeling nostalgic about the past. They want to recreate or celebrate special events in their lives and be transported to a different place in time.” One of the best ways to celebrate is to customize a getaway that will appeal to all the participants. For example, Travel Concepts has just completed a 3-day reunion for over 100 descendants of-a Canadian senator. The family found it was always gathcring for funerals rather than happy events, so it assembled at a family-oriented resort in central Canada for Thanksgiving weekend. As both budget and vacation time are major considerations, substantial lead time is required. Over the years, Travel Concepts has been involved in booking many unique events for groups of as few as 20 to as many as 200 members. The inter- active Travel Talk jrorkshop will provide ideas on suitable des- tinations and tips for planning the ultimate reunion experience.
