Aerial attack key to Bronx bomber

Yes, Sega ts still at it, this time
with another fighting game
for which they are renowned.
Pretty much the same contig:
uration as the Virtua Fighters
or Fighting Vipers, Last Bronx
is instantly familiar with the
added vist of martial art
weaponry. Surprisingly, this is
not as good looking as other
Sega fighters, though it is
speedy and fluid. Also lacking
the familiar realism, Last
Bronx kas opted for blurred
attacks and explosive hits, I
suppose as an attempt to
please the eye rather than the
brain. Oh well. Seriously
nasty, the key to Last Bronx is
in the aerial attack. Launch
your foe into the air and
administer some punishing
blows as they fall to the
ground. Nifty little taunts and
jibes are also yours to control.
Best of all, combos and spe-

cial moves can be blocked half

way through so otherwise
merciless behaviour can be
abruptly countered by
counter-merciless behaviour.
Several bonus Anime
sequences try to build and
actual stery:line for cach of
the eight Characters, which is
superfluous yet charming.
Sul; not:the best of the Sega
‘fighters'‘=I'm anxiously await-
ing VF3- but sufficiently sat-
isfying for now. Good rental.
