erences “unisex”?

According to a recent
survey by the American
Floral Marketing Council,
there’s an obvious differ-
ence between the color
preferences of men and
women. The top six choices
of each, in order of prefer-
ence are: for men — red,
yellow, pale pink, hot pink,
white, purple; and for women
— pale pink, pale purple, hor
pink, peach, red, yellow.

Is there a way to “size”
flowers to a vase?

Gernerally a bouquet

How do you get the best
vase life for tulips?
Properly cared for, cut
tulips wil stay fresh up toa
week in a vase.
@ For taller, straighter,
longer-lasting tulips,
“prep” the stems when the
flowers are first brought
home.
@ Lay the bunch flat on its
wrapping paper.
@ Cur the stems diagonally
at the base with a clean,
sharp knife, wrap the bunch
firmly in the paper (making,
a cone-shape) so that the
tuplis are standing straight.
The stems should extend
well below the paper, with
the flower heads encased
firmly within.
@ Stand the bunch in water
for an hour or two, with the
paper above the water line.
@ When you are ready to
arrange the flowers, recut
the stems, again on the
diagonal, to the desired length.
Once arranged: top off the.
water level regularly to keep
the water fresh, and place the
bouquet out of direct sunlight,
heat sources and drafts.
