and painting contractors
can drop off leftover
paint for safe disposal at
a free collection and
exchange Saturday.

Consumers and contrac-
tors may drop off latex and
oil-based paints, shellacs and
stains on June 22 from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m. at the rear of
Park & Tilford Mall. 333
Brooksbank Ave.. North Van.

There is a limit of 10 paint
cans per vehicle. Any
reusable paint collected will
be set aside and offered free
to the public on a first come.
first served basis.

The collection does not
handle anti-fouling. indusiri-
al or automotive paint or
aerosol cans. Nor does it
accept other household haz-
atdous wastes such as sol-
vents, paint thinner, pesti-
cides, poisons and pharma-
ceuticals.

_ The event is being held by
the B.C. Paint Care
Association (PCA), com-
prised of 55 paint companies
and set up to provide British
Columbians with a govern-
ment-approved collection
and disposal program for
paint.

The PCA has established
16 permanent paint coltec-
tion depots in the Lowey
Mainland, and plans to ope
a safe and accessible paint
collection facility on the
North Shore this year. Until a
suitable site is established,
one-day collection and
exchange events will be held
menthly on the North Shore:.
