The images that have populated this ant ever since, have not been the comforting ones of a stable and familiar exterior world, but the strange and alien ones of the unexplored interior of the imagi- nation. The resulting tension between the mathematical and micro- organic shapes that evolved became the characteristic trade- mark of the art of our time, pure and not-so-pure abstraction. Geometric Expressionism is a kaleidoscopic collection of works by artists who take their points of departure from various sources within this tradition.
