2 - Sunday, April 4, 1999 - North Shore News INTRODUCING THE COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT FUND Cicy Council recently established the Community Enhancement Fund to support the developrnent of new public amenities and facilities which will enhance the public’s use and enjoyment of the City. This could include washrooms in parks, plazas, public open spaces, major renovations of public buildings such as libraries, theatres, sports fields, trails, landscaping, bike paths, playground and sports field equipment, audible traffic signals and water fountains. Establishment of the Community Enhancement Fund supports and facilitates several objectives of the City’: Social Plan which encourages community initiative, collaboration and partnerships, and seeks to ensure that public facilities and amenities are available for community use and address local priority needs. Our new Quay-Osk, conveniently located in the Rotunda inside Lonsdale Quay, puts the City at your fingertips. You can pay your parking ticket, fire off a letter to City Hall on a burning issue, check local theatre listings, and plan a family outing, all from this site. Visitors to our fair city can tap into transit schedules, weather reports and all the local hot spots and activities. Our site also links to other sites to extend your view beyond the City. We're pleased to announce the unveiling of a new bus shelter made possible by a funding contribution by PETRO-CANADA and the provision of a shelter by PATTISON OUTDOOR. What makes this shelter unique is that the artist, DWIGHT ATKINSON, has designed an artistic addition to the shelter by applying decorative metal panels mounted behind the shelter. The artwork on these panels will be made from a collection of overlapping graphs 7 and diagrams used in petroleum exploration and refining.
