Charlotte Caffey connected with Brooks and Ciambotti early 1988. Caffey had an A&M recording contract in her pocket, a failed man-band stint behind her and was on the prowl for a new group. Brooks was rotating through L.A.’s sleazeball pay-to-play clubs. Ciambotti, the daughter of John Ciambotti (A Stiff Records session musician whe played on some essential Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello, Wreckless Eric and jan Orury tracks) was fronting the shadowy Jammin’ Salmons at the time....
