mulch them well.

When they bloom in Aprii and
May, the hyacinths will share the
spotlight with all kinds and colors
of narcissi, commonly called daf-
fodils. Although originally yellow,
which still predominates in most
cultivars, daffodils are now white,
pink or orange and sometimes
bicolored.

They range from miniatures 10
em high to trumpets that stand
about 46 cm tall. Although most
still have one flower per stalk,
there are now many that bear two,
three or more blossoms per stem
— sometimes in double blossoms.

‘Mount Hood’ and ‘Ice Follies’
are two examples of white daf-
fodils in the trumpet and large-
corolla group. Two-coior varieties
include ‘Magnet’ (white perianth
and yellow cup) and ‘Flower Re-
cord’ (white perianth and orange
cup).
