Volunteer tax
preparers sought

VOLUNTEER INCOME tax
preparers are needed for the tax
season ahead.

The North Shore Information
and Volunteer Centre wiil present
a special training seminar for vol-
unteers on Thursday, Feb. 9 from
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Revenue
Canada staff will provide the in-
struction. The training will help
volunteers prepare simple tax
feturns for seniors and others on a
limited income.

A volunteer tax preparer can
expect to put in a morning or
aftesnoon per week during March
and April either helping to prepare
the return or checking over com-
pleted forms. Volunteers will be
placed at North Shore Neighbour-
hood House, Silver Harbour Cen-
tre or the North Shore Information
and Volunteer Centre, or perhaps
make a home visit for shut-ins if
necessary.

Numerous thank-you letters
have been received by the North
Shore Information and Volunteer
Centre for the work done by the
tax volunteers in previous years.

The training session will be held
at St. John’s Anglican Church,
North Vancouver (entrance is on
8th Avenue across from Queen
Mary School). Volunteers are ask-
ed to bring a bag lunch, but tea
and coffee will be provided.
