Brolly took over as head of the department May 1, replacing Joe Hornell on his retirement. His arrival in the police chief’s chair is the culmina- tion of a lifetime of police work that started in Ireland. After eight years there, he continued policing in Ed- monton before arriving in B.C. 25 years ago. “I came out to beautiful B.C. — is that what they call it? — to get away from the snow and ice of the prairies,’’ Brolly explains.
