BOB BROLLY has
settled comfortably
into the corner office
that is home for West
Vancouver’s chief of
police.

Brolly took over as head
of the department May 1,
replacing Joe Hornell on his
retirement.

His arrival in the police
chief’s chair is the culmina-
tion of a lifetime of police
work that started in Ireland.

After eight years there, he
continued policing in Ed-
monton before arriving in
B.C. 25 years ago.

“I came out to beautiful
B.C. — is that what they call
it? — to get away from the
snow and ice of the
prairies,’’ Brolly explains.

While the location may
have changed, his duties
didn’t with the move to
more temperate climes. It
was, he says, a continuation
of policing as he continued
to work in the full range of
policing activities.
