cry against the
neighborhood pub pro-
posed for 1230 Ross
Road at a public hear-
ing held Monday at the
North Vancouver
District municipal hall.

Outnumbering
speaking in favor by a
margin of 38-5, residents
vocal in their opposition to
the pub told Council they
were fearful the drinking
establishment would con-
tribute to existimg
widespread vandalism and
juvenile delinquency already
in the area.

In one impassioned
speech, a Ross Road resident
told Council she felt the pub
would depreciate property,
threaten security, create traf-
fic congestion and hamper
enjoyment of the
neighborhood.

Joanne Bland, the proper-
ty manager for the Draycott
Gardens complex, submitted
a petition with approximate-
ly 250 signatures against the
pub and said approving the
facility in a residential area
“‘would prove to be an tr-
responsible decision ’
