prevent unticensed body rub parlours: from
springing up in the Citv. A business licence

Coun, Darrell Mussatto said the idea was
to eliminate any massage parlours that operated for pleasure
instead of therapy and offered sexual gratification.

The move is seen as preventative, rather than punitive, since
Mussatto says there isn’t any perceived problem in’ North
Vancouver at this time.

tf the amendment to the bylaw is approved, any licence
application for a body rub house not falling under the first two
categories will be rejected.

Until then, any existing body parlours will be grandfathered
in, until they choose to relocate, at which time, they will not be
offered new business licences. — Keith Lowe

City moves on pawnshops

North Vancouver City council moved unanimously,
Monday, to push the proposed bylaw governing pawnshops and
second-hand stores to a third reading, next Monday.

The public hearing scheduled at the meeting,
produced no speakers. Only Coun. Barbara
Perrault spoke to the issue, reiterating her
endorsement of the proposed bylaw, designed
to stop the transfer of stolen goods through
second-hand dealers.
Should the amendment pass, North Vancouver
businesses dealing in second-hand goods
would have to watt 30 days before re-selling
merchandise, which is more in line with othe
municipalities.

neouver is 72 hours, which makes it difficult
for victims of theft to determine what goods
have been stolen.

Ferries add sailings

Nearly 4,000 amateur athletes, coaches and officials are
expected to participate in the BC Summer Games, July 27-30
in Victoria

In anticipation of heavy trattic, BC Ferries is adding an extra
vessel and nvo more sailings.

The Queen of Esquimait will provide an extra sailing on the
Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay route on Thursday morning, July 27.

The vessel, which carries 376 vehicles and 1,360 passengers,
will provide a second supplementary sailing in the late after-
noon Sunday, July 30.

To ensure customer comfort and convenience, BC Ferries is
also encouraging spectators and other participants to reserve
vehicle space in advance, and to travel the day before or after
