to-door for donations.

That's the message West
Vancouver Police want to get
out after a woman claiming she
was collecting on behalfot that
organization managed to get
money from a couple of West
Van residents.

woman about 24 years old,
with short brown hair and a
round face, wearing a prey
jacker, has been knocking on
doors in the municipality.
When the door is answered she
doesn’t speak, bur hands the
resident a card requesting
money.

“One — victim

which didn’t get cashed,” said
Almas. “She called the associa-
tion to find out why not, and
they, told her they were not
canvassing.”

Another resident gave. the
phoney canvasser $10 cash.

Car thief crashed and ran

THE car thief who worked in West Vancouver on Christmas Day probably

didn’t make Santa’s “nice” list.

At approximately 8:30 in the morning. people travelling to Christmas morning celebrations
along the Upper Levels Highway or ‘Laylor Way were startled by the dangerous behaviour of a
daver behind the wheel of a stolen car.

The 1988 white Acura Integra was heading east on the highway, and according to informa:
von gathered by West Vancouver police, was travelling too fast when it left the highway via the

Taytor Way exit and lost control.

According to WVPD Const, Scott Findlay, the driver failed to stop at the intersection and hit
the first traffic island. ‘The car became airborne, travelled across Taylor Way's northbound lanes
of traffic onto the second trattic island where it hit the traffic control device, and then stid over
the highway on-ramp and crashed inte a fence on the east side of Taylor Way.

‘There were (to people in the car, a man and a woman. The male, whe police suspect was the
driver of the car, fled the scene of the accident on toot, leaving behind che woman who suftered
head and other injuries in the accident. She was taken to Liens Gace Hospital by ambulance.

“We have witnesses who are assisting us,” said Findlay. “We believe we have identified the
male, and now we're working of bringing him in.”

Findlay said the car, which ts cegistered to an owner in Surrey, suffered extensive damage.

Money ordered to go

A Lower Lonsdale pizza place was held up at rifle
point on Dec. 21.

According to the North Vancouver RCMP, a robber pulled
a rifle trom his jacket sleeve and demanded money during, the
LP p.m, incident at Doe's Pizza in the 100-block of West Ise
Street. The armed robber grabbed some cash from the register
and together with a second robber ran away.

The armed robber was described as being Caueasian, in his
early 20s, 1.78 m (5° 10") with red hair and a thin build. The
second robber was described as being native and age 25.

Anyone with information is asked to call the North
Vancouver RCMP at 985-1311. Callers are asked to refer to
