ravenous machines
showed up one day and
quite literally chewed up
all that stuff, Right
before our eyes, It made
a monster pile,

The chewing
machines were replaced
with others even huger,
though equally deter-"
mined, these ones having
been instructed to take
great chunks of earth
and ‘gravel and carry
them through the air in
enormous hods to wait-
ing trucks, endless num-
bers of trucks that in
turn lumbered off
to dump their
enormous loads.
In no time they
were back again,
ready for another
helping.
Nowhere were
there any sweaty
men with wheel-
barrows. Not a
single worker was
secn forcing a
shovel with his foot into

" the side-hill they created.

When it came. time for
the concrete, no one put
sand and dry cement
into a stone-boat and

stirred it quickly with

buckets of water. Not a
single worker carried a
hammer. a

. And when they did:
need concrete, when
they got down to the
nitty-gritty, another
great machine, with a
very long and narrow

nose, stuck the nose in
