Tt was vet another blow to what had once been a thriving waterfront community. Inglis, and others who share his vision of Lower Lonsdale as “a town centre and a destina- tion,” hope the Lower Lonsdale Planning Study and the Versatile Lands Use Study currently under way will allow for the cultural and hisroric sites that define and attract people to an area. Inglis’ hope is for a North Vancouver Museum at Lonsdale Landing. ft would be housed in the shipvard’s red-roofed Copper- smith’s shop. Inglis envisions the museum as a tribute to the waterfront’s history. The building is 196 feet (60 m) long and 45 feet (14 m) wide. Plans for the museum include an exnibit about Burrard Dry Dock, dominated by the full-size stern section of a Victory Ship; and exhibits on Moodyville, the Ferry Wharf and Burrard Inlet today. West of the proposed museum site, a civic plaza has already been designed. Ji will be the site for the Pacific Great Eastern railway station, presently resting behind the bleachers at Mahon Park, and a restored streetear. A waterfront walkway would wind from the plaza, around the museum and bevond. Other arts and cultural groups have also put Youth need a place in city plans forward request: for the area. Especially for youth. “Let’s face ir — the vouth today are not going home to bed at 10 o'clock ar night,” he said.
