Grade 10s journey te A new education pro- gram developed on - Bowen Island is being :~ offered next fall for Grade 10 students in 5 West Vancouver. ~ The © program, . named Odyssey, will initially be a sin- gle grade class of 24 students, ° with nwo full-time teachers. The name Odyssey was chosen because it portrays the image. of the. challenge, growth and adventure that the students will experience. The Odyssey program is designed to present. young people with a series of signifi- cant academic, physical, and ~ (Prince of social challenges in an effort to help them make a rich transi- tion from. adolescence. to adulthood, In Odyssey, students: will be taught by experiential edu- ation methods. This involves considerable hands-on learn- ing, both in and out of the classroom. The program will present students with a host of chal- lenges in the academic curricu- lum and on the many outdoor adventures — from hiking to kayaking, and even camping in the snow!
