But se that medical services are not dis- rupted, the new medical centre must be built first, the doctors moved and then the ‘existing building can be demolished. “That's an important aspect that keeps getting lost in all of this,” said Chard. “That’s just spin," said Pudwell, of that argument. “Doctors will stay in communi- ties where they have clients.” Neighbours. panned the original plan submitted by Truscan in March. Complaints included the overall height and ‘corporate’ appearance and the impact on views. Many felt the medical centre didn’t fit in with Ambleside’s village character. Next Sunday's ball will be the l5th — it's an annual fundraiser for Family Services of the North Shore (FSNS). Every vear during the cocktail hour, children are entertained by clowns, jugglers and other entertainment: ins the chil- dren’s room, while their par- ents sip and mingte. “We were thinking it would be nice to decorate our children’s room this vear, but we don’t really have enough time in the hotel,” said Cindy Alexander, one of the ball organizers. _ Instead, they came up with a unique idea. Thirty-five liv- ing Christmas trees, donated by James Dovle Landscapers and other anonymous donors, will be delivered to elementary schools across the North Shore tomorrow. The children will have four days to decorate the trees in a theme of their choice. On Friday, the trees will be collected and taken to the Westin Bayshore Hotel, where the ball is to take place. The trees will adorn che sign stating the name of the school and the theme of the tree. “It’s going to look beauti- ful,” said Alexander. “And the neat thing is that the kids can walk around and stw.w their friends the trees they decorat- ed.” At the end of the ball, the trees will be judged. and the winning school will receive a trophy it can keep until nest year, Even better, when the ball is all finished, the decorat- ed trees will be taken by FSNS and given to families in need, who ‘might not otherwise get a Christmas tree. Alexander said if the program is a success in its first vear, organizers plan to include secondary schools NEXT Year.
