‘Sliver’ has good idea, but does nothing

on the dust jacket.

Believe me: whoever wrote thal
bit of inaccurate drivel scores
higher on the fiction expertise

The possibilities are endless with
and on premises such as these,
Sliver could, in the right hands, do
to the psyches of apartment
dwellers what Jaws did to the fear
quotients of bathers. but Levin has
instead turned out a tame, almost
amateurish, piece of work.

As for that dust jacket quotation
a few paragraphs back, it should
be said that Sliver is as sinuous as
Twiggy, as erotic as Roseanne

Yes, there's a good dollop of
