SPORTS Hurricanes rob Bandits of berth THE FINAL regular season games of the B.C. Touch Football North Shore Division | match up had the Waterfront Bistro Bandits taking on = the Queens Cross Hurricanes. With first place and the division championship on the line, it was the Hur- ticanes upsetting the Waterfront Bistro Bandits in a 30-24 see-saw battle. The Bandits league leading defence, anchored by Korm Trieu and Doug Biden, kept the ganie close in the early going. However, it was the league MVP Pete Williams who caught all four of the Hurricanes touchdowns to rob the Bandits of their first division championship. The second game of the day saw the North Van Panthers come from behind and upset the favored North Shore Twist Tops 10-8. The game was all defence until Gary Renwick threw a 45-yard pass to John Robinson for the game’s final and deciding touchdewn, The game's defensive star was Marco Decamilles who kept the game close for the Twist Tops. The winless North Van Cobras left it to the last game of the season to win their first game of the season, squeaking by the Burnaby Raiders 22-20. Henry Huber threw for three touckdowns, one to Jeff Jones and the other two to Dan Claremont to secure the win for the Cobras. Congratulations to the Waterfront Bistro Bandits, Queens Cross Hurricanes and the North Shore Twist Tops who made it to the B.C. Provincial Champion- ships next weekend at the Burnaby Sports Complex. Leading by only six points at the half, Fosters came out gunn- ing in the second half and scored on their next two possessions to open up a 19-point lead, which the Raiders were never able to re- bound from. the earlier game, Pacific Pac oy default as only four a-gers showed up. The final standings are: Fosters 7-1; Tugs Broncos 6-2; Jack Lonsdale Raiders 4-4, Pacific Pac 3-5 and Chargers 0-8. This weekend playoffs start as Raiders and Pacific Pac square off, with the winner meeting the Broncos.
