Tennis title eludes Jeyaseelan NORTH VANCOUVER'’S Sonya Jeyaseelan was unsuccessful! in her bid for the Canadian under-16 indoor tennis title at Ste.- Eustache, Quebec this weekend. Seeded third, the petite 13-year-old was defeated by defending champion Jana Nejedly of Richmond 6-4, 6-3 in the final. The No. 4 seed, Nejedly took 93 minutes to dispose of Seyaseeclan, Nejedly also downed Jeyaseelan in the under-14 indoor final in Calgary last year. Gordon sisters plunge into medals THE CANADIAN Winter Diving Nationals turned out to be something of a reversal of the Commonwealth Games results pro- duced by West Vancouver diver Paige Gordon. Although 16-year-old Gordon finished a disappointing seventh in the three-metre event in New Zealand, she redeemed herself with a second-place finish at the Vancouver Aquatic Centre on Thursday. But while Gordon won a surprise Commonwealth Games bronze on the 10-metre tower, she had to settle for a fifth place finish on Friday. Also in that event, Megan Gordon, Paige's older sister, finished second with 569.85 points after first place Anna Dacyshyn of Toronto with s 593.53 total. Finally, in the closing event of the nationals, Paige secured a fourth place finish oa the one-metre, an event in which she finished sixth in New Zealond.
