FEDERAL FUNDS Capilano College students win Canada scholarships FIVE CAPILANO College natural science students have won prestigious Canada Scholarships. The national award was given to Ali Dhanani, Wesley Macaulay, Diane Reitzner, Michelle Van Rikxoort and Marko Vesely in a recent ceremony at the college. Worth up to $8,000 over four years, the award is given out by the fed- eral government to encourage more students, particularly women, to continue their studies in the sciences. Capilano’s students, all with top marks in their first year of study, cited interests in nuclear science, astronomy and engineering. Barry Oakley, director of industry development of the Ministry of In- dustry, Science and Technology, presented each student with a certificate and the first cheque for $2,000. Oakley said Capilano College's five winners represent an etite group of 250 students selected from across Canada. Last year, two students from the college won Canada Scholarships.
