Man fined for fisheries violations

A 59-YEAR-OLD Vancouver man
was fined $175 Nov. 28 in North
Vancouver provincial court after
he pleaded guilty to two fisheries
violations.

Edward Joseph Flett was origi-
nally charged with possessing
chinook caught in the Capilano

River during a time closed to
chinook fishing and attempting to
catch the fish by snagging.

The charges were originally laid
in connection with April 23 inci-
dents in which three chinook
salmon were seized.

In addition to the fine, Flett

forfeited the fish and his fishing
rod and tackle.

Darrick George Flett, 21, also of
Vancouver was charged jointly
with Edward Flett.

He has been remanded to Jan.
18 to stand trial on the charges.
