Options for volunteers

BEGIN THIS new year by getting
involved in a rewarding volunteer
experience, not only to heip but as
recreation, a hobby and an experi-
ence for work and fun.

The following are a sampling of
current requests at the North Shore
Information and Volunteer Centre:
LUNCH-TIME HELPERS urgent-
ly needed. If you are good at
preparing Sunches for your
children, then here's where you
can excel. Help prepare soup,
sandwiches, ctc. for sale at a
nominal cost to help supplement
tunches for children. 10:30 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. weekdays in North Van
area.

WARM AND FRIENDLY
RECEPTIONIST needed Friday
afternoons from 1 to 5 p.m. by an
agency dealing with family issues.
Tasks include answering phones,
some typing and grecting people.
Orientation is provided at this
North Van agency, but the volun-
teer should be an experienced
receptionist.

LEADERS AND HELPERS for
pre-teen groups on Fridays from 7
to 9 p.m. in Lynn Valley area. If
you are fun-loving and good with

this age group, a wealth of experi-
ence is available with this interna:
tional children’s organization.
SENSITIVE, CARING and
mature people necded to be trained
to form a support system for
cancer patients. Public informa-
tion mecting will be held at Lions
Gate Hospital on Monday, Jan. 18
at7 p.m.

BE AN OFFICE WORKER. A
person familiar with office
toutines is needed to keep gencral
office health records. Hours are
two mornings a month at the con-
venience of the volunteer.
RECEPTIONIST NEEDED for
one three-hour shift’ per week.
Duties include answering phones
and providing information about
various community services, Train-
ing will be given. Also looking for
relief ‘‘on-call'’ people who could
eventually become regular volun-
teers.

7:30 p.m. at the Lucas Centre.
