Blair wins NV
city se seat

A NEW ALDERMAN
took his seat at North
Vancouver City Coun-

cil Monday night.

Ald. Allan Blair won the
City byelection, filling the
seat of Frank Marcino who
passed away in March.

With a turnout vote of
547, Blair took the polls
against lawyer Elko Kroon,
with 368 votes to.179 votes.

Bui the win was no sur-
prise to Blair.

“It was expected,'’ he said
Tuesday, ‘‘because | knew
there was likely to be a low
turnout. I knew if there were
only 500 people turning out
at the polls, 1 could make
sure 1 had 300 of. them.

There were no strong issues, .

and no advertising. It was a
low-key campaign.’ :

Biair said. the chemistry of

feels common sense is the
route to take.
