THE RECENT cold weather has stopped the tide of
brownish water from Mowing through our taps, but
concerns about our drinking water quality linger
The reputation of Lower Mainland water, ance the
enyy of many metropolitan cities, has been sullied by
landslides in the Capilano and Seymour watersheds,
leaving the water palatable but Unsavory-looking.
Critics believe logging practices in the watersheds
need to be cleaned up before our water ever will be.

But many homeowners can’t wait that Jong, and
have turned to bottled water or filtration systems for
their drinking water. One in six homes in Canada
now relies on bottled water. And with concerns grow-

ing about what we add to our water to make it drink-,
able, that figure will surely rise. What do you think?
