STUDENTS GATHER around King Arthur as he pulls the famed excalibur from a stone. The youngsters
were rehearsing The Sword and the Stone at West Vancouver Parks and Recreation’s Arts Express program.

purpose of developing quality art education for North Shore children. The summer ‘89 program (which
receatly ended) was intensive — three-hour sessions, Monday to Friday, for two weeks. Instructors are ex-
perienced artists or art education professionals with a broad background in children’s art. The setting was
Dundarave Beach, but the new program, scheduled to begin in January, will be held at an alternate site. So
far, Arts Express includes fine art, puppetry, drama and improvisation. For information phone Liz Watson
