Hydro’s new gas pipeline to Horseshoe Bay, digging up their street. Several Altamont residents turned out to the Sept. 16 West Vancouver council meeting to voice their con- cern over the disruption . caused by the pipeline. Ascher Smith accused B.C. Hydro of lying to the residents, saying that he had been told that the pipeline was for the residential area. “They lied, it’s for Horseshoe Bay,’’ Smith said. Smith went on to describe the condition of the road as being completely ruined and asked council for support in demanding that B.C. Hydro pay for the complete repav- ing of it. “The taxpayers of West Vancouver should not be stuck with the costs,’’ Smith said. According to a report to council on the pipeline, the patches that ars there are only temporary and further work would be done by a contractor at Hydro’s ex- pense. However, ‘‘B.C. Hydro at this time has no plans‘ to recap the street since their franchise does not require them to do so,’ the report states. The report goes on to say that “‘there have been some unavoidable disturbances of various boulevards.’’ Mayor Derrick Hum- phreys agreed that there was -a considerable impact on the ‘NEW large. 750 mI bottle. ~— 2 ttesnase earetet CoP XS .
