Twenty, four- man teams of trivia buffs drawn from the crowd square off daily in the Trivia Gardens to test their memory and knowledge of the arcane against each other and a computer with 30,000 questions. There’s an expanded Hor- ticulture Show, the prettiest backyard in B.C., with more than a third of .an acre of flowers and shrubs under colorful canopies in the mid- dle of the Fairgrounds, highlighted by a 20-foot floral peacock. In the show barns and the Agrodome, the largest sum- mer ‘agriculture show in Canada draws top breeders and exhibitors from Canada and the U.S. There are livestock exhibits, plus an in- ternationally-recognized Horse Show with show jump- ing, costume classes and driving tompetitions, as well as the largest gathering of 4- H youngsters in North America. This year, Creative Crafts had a record 4,000 entries from 1,450 people across the @ PSSCOSOO province. There are hun- dreds. of home-making, crafts and hobby categories, with special. sections for children, the handicapped, hospitalized veterans and Golden Agers. At the Action centre, top loggers from around the world compete in the World Championship Timber Show, vying for more than $40,000 in prize money. There’s also the world’s largest demolition derby and a tug-o-war competition in- volving teams from Canada . and the U.S. For kids, there’s the all- new Kids’ Headquarters with the popular Dairyland Pet- ting Zoo, plus puppeteers, musicians and magic.
