NV lawyer fined

NORTH Vancouver lawyer Kenneth Nicholas Taschuk has
been reprimanded by his profession’s governing body.

The Law Society of British Columbia also fined Taschuk
$7,000 and ordered to pay hearing costs for professional mis-
conduct i in breaching an undertaking to another lawyer.

Taschuk admitted failure to pay monies to a client resulting
from a settlement agreement.

Taschuk, who has been practicing since 1977, is appealing
the Law Society's verdict.

New pathway for
seymour forest

THE Greater Vancouver Regional District
(GVRD) is seeking public input on the design of
a new recreation pathway in the Lower Seymour
Conservation Reserve (formerly known as the
Seymour Demonstration Forest).

Hikers, evelists, in-line skaters and other people unterested in
the area can attend an open house Monday to learn about the
proposed Sevmour Reereation Pathway and provide tecdback

on pathway design and construction.

In 1998, approximately 350,000 people visited the forest.

Over the next decade, the GVRD expects that number to
increase by benween 10% and 15% every year.

Over the same period, water construction projects in the
reserve will bring more vehicle traffic and large trucks to the
Sevmour Mainline Road.

‘This increased traffic will degrade the road surface. A new
pathway will be an alternate route to hike, bike or in-lie skate
up the valley.

As part af the consultation on che Seymour Recreation
Pathway, GVRD staff have met with representatives of key user
groups and the District of North Vancouver.

To reach the Learning Lodge at 4400 Lillooet: Read, take
Exit 22 off Highway One and follow Lilleact Road to the
Lower Seymour Conservation Area, approximately three kilo-
metres past Capilano College.
