was required for court.

Before Judge R.
Tweedale in North
Vancouver provincial court
on May 4:

Rolando Enriquez Galvez
39, of no fixed address,
received six months" proba-
tion after he was found guilty
of possessing a knife ior 2
dangerous purpose on Nov.
1, 1997 in North Vancouver
Ci ity.

Galvez was required to
perform 25 hours of commu-
nity work. The knife was
ordered destroyed.A Spanish
interpreter was required for
court.

upcoming art auction.

The Art & Flowers for
CHILD gala Oct. 13 at
Vancouver’s Waterfront
Hotel will feature the work of
more than 20 B.C. artists.

CHILD is the non-profit
foundation established three
years ago by former Socred
cabinet minister Grace
McCarthy. The foundation’s
goal is to find a cure for
Crohn’s discase, ileitis, colitis
and liver disorders in children
by establishing two chairs in
pediatric gastroenterology at
UBC and funding research
through B.C. Children’s
Hospital.

The art and information
dispiay is located near the
Bank of Montreal in ‘the
south mall.
