t 4- Friday, October 11, 1996 — North Shore News | Builets spray NV apartment in drive-by shooting By Anna Marie D'Angelo News Reporter NORTH Vancouver Mounties declined to confirm or deny that a North Vancouver drive-by shooting on Wednesday morning was related to a similar incident in Vancouver. Five bullets were fired through the window ofan apartment in the 100-block of East 17th Street at 2 a.m. The occupants of the suite, a woman and her young son, were not harmed, according to a North Vancouver RCMP spokesman. In Vancouver, one bullet hit che home of Paul Cheema at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cheema lives on East 52nd Street in Vancouver. Vancouver City Police are not calling the incident a drive- by shooting because a car was not observed at the scene. Cheema was leaving his house when the shot was fired. He told the police he was threatened earlier by Bindy Johal (Bhupinder Johal). ; Vancouver City Police have no suspects in the shooting incident. Johal and Cheema are connected to an ongoing feud between warring factions of drug dealers in Vancouver. Since 1994, at least three people have been killed in gangland style murders relating to the feud. On Thursday, a Vancouver City Police spokesman said the North Vancouver and Vancouver incidents do not appear to be related.
