Sasquatch shooting
hoops startled visitors
to Capilano College’s
Sportsplex over
Christmas break.

A film crew and full com-
plement of extras were there
to shoot the family movie Big
and Hairy.

The film stars actor
Richard Thomas, best known

for his role as John-Boy in
the long-running TV scries
The Waltons, and Vancouver-
based actors Donnelly
Rhodes and Greg Thirloway.

Former Grizzlies mascot
Trevor Jones also makes a
star turn as Ed, a preteen
Sasquatch that’s an ace at
basketball.

comedy event of Olympic
proportions.

The Improv Comedy
Olympics take place Friday,
Tan. 9 at CBC Studio 40,
focated at 700 Hamilton St.,
Vancouver. Taping starts at
7:15 p.m.

The nation’s top comedic
athletes will compete in the
gold-medal comedy chal-
lenge. They'll be asked to

create improvised scenes that
will be scored by a trio of
celebrity judges.

Stand-up comic Brent
Butt is the host, and will put
the improv artists through
their paces.

The Olympic competitors
are al! veterans of the
Vancouver Theatresports
League.

Highlights of the Olympic
competition are the challeng-
ing events Reach for the
Toque and Opera on Ice.
